MTS cuts mobile Internet rates by about 33%

New telecom operator MTS India has reduced rates of mobile internet by up to 33 per cent, a development that might trigger a price war in the segment as older players have been hiking charges frequently for some time now.

Sistema Shyam TeleServices Limited (SSTL) that provides telecom services under MTS has launched GB Festival for this festive season. Under this offer, postpaid data customers can get new data customers can now buy an MBlaze Ultra WiFi dongle for just Rs. 999 instead of Rs. 1499. This comes with 40GB of data. New prepaid customers need to pay just Rs 1749 instead of Rs. 2299 for MBlaze Ultra Wi-fi dongle along with 10 GB data. MTS has also introduced new monthly usage plans across categories, MTS India Chief Brand Officer Leonid Musatov said in a statement.

MTS has also introduced a range of aggressive prepaid data plans – 3GB for Rs. 399, 5 GB for Rs. 499, 7GB for Rs. 699 and 20GB for Rs. 999, all with 30 day validity. These offers are available across all 9 circles where MTS provides data services – Delhi, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Kolkata, West Bengal and UP West.
