Panasonic India today announced the launch of another octa core smartphone, called Eluga S. This 5 inch display bearing handset has been introduced at Rs 11,190 but is available for Rs 10,990 from Snapdeal. Curiously, another octa core smartphone of Panasonic, the P81 too is currently being sold for around the same price. This is the third phone in the Eluga series after Panasonic Eluga U and Eluga A. The quad core Eluga U is being sold for around Rs 16,000 while the Eluga A is available for around Rs 8,000.
With Eluga S, the company has introduced a Blink Play feature that automatically initiates a three-second countdown for capturing selfies from the front 5-megapixel camera when the user blinks, says Panasonic.

The dual-SIM (GSM+GSM) Eluga S runs Android 4.4.2 KitKat with company’s Fit Home UI on top. It features a 5-inch HD (720×1280 pixels) IPS display and is powered by a 1.4GHz octa-core processor coupled with 1GB of RAM.

The phone has something called ‘BLINK PLAY’ that lets one click selfies or groupies with the front snapper with just a blink.

Commenting on the launch, Manish Sharma, Managing Director, Panasonic India said “We are sure that Panasonic’s Eluga smartphone range has certainly raised the bar of standard to a great level and has the potential to succeed in the Indian market. This is the third phone is the Eluga series which defines our willingness to embrace new technology in a market like India. As we launch new devices, we will continue to innovate for our customers.”
The Eluga series of smartphones was first introduced by the company in 2012 before being discontinued. Panasonic recently revived the series in India with Eluga U and Eluga A smartphones.
