The Parrot Zik 2.0 headphones are here and they’re aimed directly at your customers. The Zik 2.0s are comfy, efficient at noise canceling, and best of all, they look amazing. And how do they sound? Pretty damn good, actually.
The Parrot Zik 2.0 are the company’s second try at headphones. The original Parrot Zik retail for $400 and are, well, rather large round boxes affixed to the wearer’s ear — think Princess Leia headphones. This time around, the cans are slender and sleek, yet still crafted from leather with aluminum arms holding everything together.
Like the original, the headphones feature touch controls on the outside of the leather cups. Swipe down on the leather to decrease the volume and likewise, swipe up to increase it. A left or right movement changes the track. The touch area is large and forgiving. The gestures work pretty much anywhere on the leather cans.
The headphones feature all sorts of gimmicks and tricks through the smartphone app. For instance the owner can change how the headphones sound by adjusting the equalizer through the app. Or the owner can fuss with the digital sound processor to simulate different listening environments. These functions work, but they hardly matter. The Zik 2.0 headphones stand tall on their sound reproduction and noise canceling abilities.
The Parrot Zik 2.0 are among the best noise canceling headphones available. Just click the small round power button to leave the outside world behind. The subtle white noise is hardly noticeable and unlike most noise canceling headphones, it did not give me a pressure headache.
The Zik 2.0 sound great. Bass is strong and underlying. The mid-range is powerful and the high-end is not overbearing. They’re nicely balanced and should satisfy everyone looking for headphones to jam out to the Eagles or lose themselves in a deep dubstep bass line. The Zik 2.0 app lets wearers fine-tune the audio reproduction. Want a little more punch? Need sharper highs? Everything can be adjusted there, but buyers can expect wonderful audio reproduction right out of the box.
Parrot calls the Zik 2.0 the most advance headphones available. They’re packed with all sorts of enhancements and add-ons including HD Voice for clearer voice calls, adjustable equalizer, and of course the swanky leather touch controls. But most importantly, they sound great even in a noisy environment. The Zik 2.0 are the best Bluetooth headphones we’ve tested. And they’re comfy too.
Over the last week, I wore the Zik 2.0 headphones for hours a day. That’s usually not possible for me. I have a fat noggin. I tend to get headaches after an hour of wearing headphones. Yet the Zik 2.0 remained comfortable throughout the day.
The battery lasted a few days and thankfully, and the Zik 2.0 headphones automatically turn off when they’re removed from the wearer’s head. It takes about two hours to recharge the headphones.
The Zik 2.0s retail for $400, which is $100 more than a comparable Bose set. But the Zik 2.0s sound better and actually look good. I don’t have anything bad to say about the Zik 2.0s, in fact. Sure, they’re pricey, but they’re also fantastic. Got $400 to splurge on headphones? Buy the Zik 2.0s. You won’t be disappointed.
