Change MySQL Root Password

To change MySQL root Password, login to MySQL as user root.

mysql -u root -p

Now run

use mysql;
update user set password=PASSWORD("NEW-MYSQL-PASSWORD-HERE") where User='root';
flush privileges;
exit
